Iole is a biological oceanographer and Senior Research Technologist at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (Naples, Italy. Her research focuses on integrative taxonomy and zooplankton ecology, with a particular emphasis on planktonic copepods and their diversity across both short- and long-term temporal scales. She is a current WoRMS editor on Copepoda since 2022 and serves on the Executive Council of the World Association of Copepodologists (WAC). She strongly supports WoRMS as a crucial tool for taxonomic standardization and data accessibility. On the SC, she would advocate for the overall enhancement of the WoRMS content, with particular attention to strengthening the links between WoRMS and biodiversity observatories and long-term ecological research platforms. High on her agenda are also active contribution to outreach and training efforts to expand the visibility of WoRMS, as well as supporting the inclusion of biological and ecological trait data. | |
